Microblading & Semi-Permanent makeup

What is microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing technique used to enhance the appearance of eyebrows. It involves using a small handheld tool with tiny needles to deposit pigment into the skin in hair-like strokes, creating the illusion of fuller, more defined brows. Microblading can help fill in sparse areas, reshape eyebrows, and create a more symmetrical look. The results typically last anywhere from one to three years, depending on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.

What is Semi- permanent makeup

Semi-permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing, involves the application of pigments into the skin to enhance facial features or mimic the appearance of conventional makeup. Unlike traditional tattoos, which penetrate deeper layers of the skin and are permanent, semi-permanent makeup typically fades over time. Common applications include eyebrow enhancement (microblading), eyeliner, lip liner, and even the application of beauty marks.

The procedure usually involves a technician using a hand-held device equipped with fine needles to deposit pigment into the skin’s top layers. Before the procedure, the technician will typically discuss the desired look with the client and choose the appropriate pigments. Topical numbing creams may be applied to minimize discomfort during the procedure.

Microblading vs SPMU

Microblading and semi-permanent makeup are both popular cosmetic procedures aimed at enhancing the appearance of eyebrows, but they have some key differences:

  1. Technique:
    • Microblading: It involves using a handheld tool with tiny needles to create small, superficial cuts in the skin, into which pigment is deposited. These cuts mimic the look of natural eyebrow hairs.
    • Semi-permanent makeup: Also known as cosmetic tattooing or micropigmentation, this technique involves using a tattoo machine to implant pigment into the skin. It can be used for eyebrows, eyeliner, and lip liner.
  2. Duration:
    • Microblading: Typically lasts 1-3 years, depending on factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare.
    • Semi-permanent makeup: Can last 2-5 years, but may require touch-ups every 1-2 years to maintain the desired appearance.
  3. Appearance:
    • Microblading: Creates a more natural, hair-like appearance, especially when done by a skilled technician.
    • Semi-permanent makeup: Tends to have a more solid and defined look, which can be preferable for those seeking a bolder or more dramatic effect.
